Climax Canyon

Hiking, Biking

Now a designated national recreation trail, Climax Canyon Trail is located a few blocks from downtown and perfect for kiddos and fido. Take your time, brings lots of water, and enjoy the overlooking sights of Raton. Visit the dinosaur track that was extracted from the park at the Raton Museum!

Goat Hill & Iridium Layer

Hiking, Scenic Overlook, History

Going towards the Old Raton Pass, visitors can take two adventures at a fork in the road. One goes to the Raton Sign and Bethlehem Star Monument overlooking the town and our gorgeous volcanic vistas and mesas. The other takes you to the exposed Iridium Layer. Take a hike on a dirt road up to the layer for a great historical and geological point of interest.
