With its stunning mountain backdrop and cozy atmosphere, the city offers a variety of exciting events and activities to celebrate the chilly months. High Country Meats Fall Festival

October 19-20, 2024

Join us for a family-friendly fall festival at High Country Meats for tons of activities, food, and prizes! This event is cash only.


Nature Journal Workshop

October 19 & 26, 2024

Capulin Volcano National Monument


Join artist-in-residence Lisa Spangler for a nature journaling workshop on October 19 and 26 from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Through presentations, demonstrations, and guided practice, participants will learn the art of documenting discoveries in nature on paper with words and sketches. Take home what you create! All supplies will be provided. Spots are limited; please call 575-278-2201 to reserve a spot!


Raton Pass Film Festival

October 19, 2024

Together with El Raton Media Works, the El Raton Theater, and the Shuler Restoration Board, the Raton Pass Film Festival commences on October 19!


SCHEDULE

1 p.m. Return World Premiere of “Raton Pass” at El Raton Theater

4 p.m. Youth Film Showcase w/ “The Woods,” “Doubt Defiers,” “Nerves,” and “A Take On Deception” at El Raton Theater

7 p.m. “Rango” at the Shuler Theater

7 p.m. “The Harder They Fall” at El Raton Theater


Witch Walk

October 25, 2024 from 6 p.m. - Midnight


Join us in downtown Raton for the Annual Witch Walk Party for drinks, prizes, appetizers, games, and a raffles where you can win up to $500. Tickets cost 40 dollars per participant and includes drinks, appetizers, and  plus 1 private party dance for $5 ticket. Register at the Old Pass Gallery.


Women's Wilderness Escape

Exciting adventure for adult women only. Safe and responsible introduction to rifle, handgun, shotgun, archery and more. No experience necessary!


Halloween Dance and Costume Contest

October 26, 2024 from 5-9 p.m.

Moss Adventures, 600 Kiowa Avenue


Live music from Paul Robinson and the Hoodoo. Prizes and a 50/50 raffle will take place. Colfax Ale Cellar will provide drinks via truck. Tickets are $15 for singles and $20 for couples.


Safe Trick-or-Treat

October 31, 2024 at 3:30 p.m.

Ripley Park and Downtown Raton


Every year, Raton Mainstreet hosts the Safe Trick-or-Treat event on Halloween. We start the event at Ripley Park for a costume contest. Afterwards, trick or treat with the participating downtown businesses and wrap up at the Elks Lodge for free hot dogs and punch 


City of Bethlehem Display

November 29, 2024 - New Years 2025

Climax Canyon


The City of Bethlehem is a drivable nativity scene in our Climax Canyon only blocks from downtown. Heading up Apache Avenue, drive through lit-displays of cartoon characters, better known as Toy Land to enter into the gates of the canyon welcomed by angels. Drive thru the canyon with the kiddos reading the story of Jesus and the reason for the season. 


Raton Mainstreet Festival of Lights and Tree Lighting

Historic First Street and Ripley Park


Hang out downtown the day after Thanksgiving to kick off the holiday season. Meet at dusk for the Christmas Tree lighting at Ripley Park. Bring the kids to meet Santa Claus and then head to Historic First Street for a stationary light parade and to shop local.


Christmas on the Chicorica

Early December

Sugarite Canyon State Park


The Friends of Sugarite Canyon will be hosting their annual Christmas on chicorica creek in the Sugarite Canyon Boardwalk area. Donations are appreciated. Come enjoy a walk among the decorated Riverwalk complete with star gazing and warm beverages. Marshmallow roasting over a barrel fire will be available to visitors. Dress warmly as the event occurs predominantly outdoors. Santa and the his coal miner friend will be present for photographs from 5-7:30pm.
